New York, New York

Phew!

We started at 6am getting ready for this trip. We changed Brigham's school schedule from the late track to the early track, dropped Ally and a friend off at the bus, sent Chase & Brigham to school, dropped Brynn off at her friend's house to take her to pre-school and then headed for the airport with Brooklyn and Sophie. It was 16 degrees, slush and icy and mega traffic. The radio said it was taking 3 x as long to get into SLC. Ugh. So we were able to use the carpool lane but the drivers were being cautious (driving Todd nuts). We were on the 215 about 9am. Todd's flight was 9:50am and ours was at 10:15AM. Todd was honking and saying "idiot" and then swerving, not dangerously but little Brooklyn was sick, sick, sick in the back from the extra long drive to the airport. She was playing a new game from Shannon in the back which added to the nausea & yep, she threw up on herself. Cracked wheat everywhere. So Todd pulled over, I ran to the back to get her suitcase and we did a quick change in the FREEZING weather. Steam was coming off the vomit (sorry). As I shook out her jeans, the cracked wheat got in my hair, on my clothes, YUCK! I stuck her clothes in a ziploc bag and wet wiped all I could. By now Todd was late so we curb checked our 3 bags, said goodbye and I went to the parking lot to park, unload and check in. It was so cold my toes were frozen and we were just outside about 10 minutes. As we were heading to the airport to check in, Todd called. He missed his flight, even though it was 20 minutes before it was to leave. So, he was on our flight. That was great except that our plane had problems and we sat on the runway for 1 1/2 hours. We finally got to Washington DC but we missed the connecting flight (love using miles). We were re-routed to a different airport, had to call the driving company to pick us up at a different time/place but luckily we arrived with bags and got checked in. We went to Bella Vista, an Italian restaurant that tasted so good. It is right across the street from the hotel so that was convienent. We walked around Times Square, mapped out the morning and then went to Ben & Jerry's--also right across the street. The Christmas lights are beautiful, especially in the fancy dept. stores and hotels.

Sophie was so good on the plane. Not too fussy, took her naps, only one blowout and she took a bottle. I had fun playing trivia against the other players on the plane. My screen name was "stupid" but I came in 2nd place and 3rd place. Kevin & Becka kept beating me! I wanted so bad the screen to say "Congratulations Stupid, you're the winner!" I'll have to play again on the way home. Todd was impressed that I got some of the questions right. He must have forgotten that I'm smart. Hmmm.

And, as we were going by some of the theatres we went by the Music Box and Julianne Moore was just standing there talking to a guy asking for her autograph. I took a photo but just a side shot. She's short. Weird being that close to a celebrity.

Okay, long day. Brooklyn's birthday tomorrow so I need energy to put on the dog.
See ya!

Crazy! Candy told me about the whole car episode. Poor Brookie. I'm jealous that you're enjoying NYC though! Have fun--and take lots of pics. (Not that you won't anyway.)
Did Sophie have formula in her bottle, or the good stuff?
And, I always knew how smart you are. Plane trivia? You'll have to tell me more about it!
