Liz and I

finally got out yesterday. We've been trying to get together forever, but with her in college, working and swinging, her schedule has been full.

So I go to pick her up and Brigham's teacher's name pops up on my phone.
"Hello, Mom?"
Hi Brigham.
"Can you bring me a blanket and pillow?"
Uh, I'm really far away, buddy.
"Can you bring them to me? " (In a very soft voice)

At this point, I knew his whole class was listening to him from the classroom. Every ounce of his coolness hinged on the instance that I would grant his simple request. I looked at Liz in a sorry-you-just-got-in-the-car-I'm-going-to-waste-your-day-driving-around-look and the sweet Aunt Liz looked at me with her baby blues...you can't not bring him his blanket and pillow. Visions of lunch at a table, not the driver's seat flew out the window and off we went, back to NE mesa to rescue his confidence in his Mother's love.

45 minutes later, we were in the mall, shoe shopping for ourselves and all was right with the 2pm hour. Until we decided to take the double stroller up the escalator. Before getting on the narrow steps, I said, stand behind me so we don't fall back. All was well until we hit the landing on top. The stroller would not roll off. Liz says, "keep walking. keep walking. fast!" I couldn't get my hip into it to push it because I was down lower. I yelled, run down and up the other and pull the front of the stroller off this thing! Finally we got it pushed forward. Phew! Let me just say, that we got our exercise. My heart was beating really fast and my face looked like I just ran a mile.

Other than that, we had a great time. Thanks, Liz!

What a good mom--
but you maybe didn't feel like one when endangering the lives of some of your children on the escalator. :) Glad you made it!

the escalator incident was hilarious. we were just marching in place and then I started running down the up, thinking about how I was always taught never to do that. It was kinda of fun, and a workout. I only made it half way down before Jane got the stroller unstuck.
Fun times, when are we going again? Friday with Ally?

Wow, I laughed out loud at that. I would have wet my pants if I would have seen it in person or been a part of it. Strollers on escalators always stress me out! (I'm Liz's friend, BTW.)

I get stressed out looking at escalators now. I just look for the elevator. I am certain if I try it, I will end up on the evening news.

The only time I would attempt to take the stroller up an escalator was when pete was with me! Even then we should of taken the elevator!

Weren't any people around to help you?

Besides that it sounds like you guys had a good time.

One time when Jane was 2 she hopped in an elevator and the door closed before I could get in and away she went. My friend took off up the escalator to meet the elevator.. we eventually caught up and got Jane out safely. Meanwhile.. the call from Brigham reminds me of Molly calling every single day from 4th grade on to bring her lunch everyday at grade school/jr. high/ high school. Ha!
