Brynn broke her elbow tonight. Five years ago tomorrow, Chase broke his leg.
We were at a neighborhood picnic and she came running around the house crying. Her arm was hanging limp at her side and she cried for an hour non-stop while I gathered all the kids and the potluck dishes, the stroller, the chairs & blanket and bikes and scooter and balls. (Todd was with Chase elsewhere or he would have helped me a bunch. ) She had another lovely outfit on, leotard under shirt/skirt, no shoes, bandaids where there ain't no sores, etc. We think, as the story goes from a two-year-old, that she was being pulled by a friend in a wagon and the wagon tipped over. Anyhow, her arm is in a splint and we go back to the orthopedic surgeon in 4 days for a hard cast. Her Uncle Judd was working in the ER so he helped us out and got her a neat sling with Peanuts characters and a sucker. Then all was well.
There was a bit more trauma at home when she realized I had cut her "tard" as in leotard at the hospital so she could use the bathroom. I couldn't take her shirt off and pull down the "tard" with her arm being so sore. We'll have to get her a new one. I hope she sleeps well.
